In July 1946 many children were born, I believe a sort of “welcome home darling” situation occurred. That means that this year a lot on Ladies and Gentlemen will have reached
retirement age. Unbelievably I am one of those, I know many of you will find that hard to take in….Allan is 65. Now I have come up with what I think is a fantastic plan, called ………
*Charity for the pensioners*. I think it would be a wonderful scheme for us all to donate say…. £20 or £50 for an old pensioner who might like to take a short break for a week or two’s
birding in the sun during the cold English winter. I am prepared to make Feathers the collection point, so you bring your donations to me here by the beginning of November and I will
see all the cash goes to a very worthy cause (used notes only please). Coincidently I shall be taking a couple of weeks off about that time.
This delightful little Nuthatch popped into the shop for a visit a couple of weeks ago, It seemed quite happy just sitting on one of the beams eyeing up all the food. After an hour or so Joe and I thought it best to help it find the door. Now how do we entice it to leave peaceably? Easy, just tell it to sit on the broom and we could carry it out.
Now I have heard a few comments that I may well have misbehaved at Joe and Char’s wedding, let me tell you I took my responsibilities very seriously, not for me taking the Mickey and generally being rude, I did wear my favourite cap but I don’t think anyone noticed. I have to say I was a tad disappointed when I wasn’t invited along to the wedding night hotel, Joe said he would "manage OK thanks". I know that we are very fashion conscious here and many of our customers do like to look trendy, this young lady (let’s call her Sue Vidler) wore these super camouflage clogs………. nice!
Have you any idea what it’s like for Joe and I to run Feathers? It really must be one the best jobs in the world, OK - we will never be rich but every working day is just great fun. Thank you for being a huge part of it, we always appreciate you using Feathers for your garden birds. Anyway… enough of the "soft" stuff….. I have included this little teaser in this months "What’s On" magazine. Do have a go if you think you can find the answers. A little quiz… All the letters below when re-arranged will form four birds found in Britain and the name of a country, you need to use all the letters just once. A £20 voucher will go to the winner whose name will be taken from a hat…. good luck. c c c c c h h h h h h f f f f f f a a a a a iii n o u u l r t q q g Allan
